Android Development Kit

The Android development kit consists of tools that help you build various applications using sample codes and tutorials on various platforms. Thanks to such tools, there exits currently in the market more than 250,000 applications developed for Android. There are about five primary Android development kits available (Android SDK, Native development kit, Google app developer, HyperNext and The simple project), the details of which are explained in this article.

• Android development kit (Software development kit) is comprised of a number of tools like codes, tutorials, debugger and the required documentation. This android development kit support platforms like Linux, Mac OS, Windows XP and Eclipse. The programing language is predominantly Java.
• The native android development kit is used to develop apps written using C and other languages. Using the native development kit is slightly complicated as Android uses a nonstandard C library called Bionic.
• Google introduced the easy App inventor aimed at helping amateurs design programs. This kit is easy to use and based on Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s open block Java’s Library. The use of this android development kit is possible only because of Android’s open architecture.
• People who are not agile with Java or Android software development find HyperNext very comfortable to work with. HyperNext is based on HyperCard. It uses the language of HyperNext  which is based on HyperTalk.
• Simple is an easy to learn and develop platform for Android applications. It uses BASIC and enables very quick and easy programing. Even though Simple is not very active, a similar commercial product called Basic4android is available and very active in the market. It is similar to Microsoft Visual Basic.

Such availability of software tools has tremendously increased the potential of app development causing a flood in the market in a variety of categories from education to entertainment to utility apps and that of games.
